No grain diets

No grain diets are basically diets which have no unsprouted grains. The premise behind these diets is that grains are not the natural diet of man or any other animal, hence they should never be consumed in excess and preferably not consumed at all. This diet also recommends strongly against refined sugar and all sugars are supposed to be obtained from fresh fruit for the most part.

The avoidance of grains is similar to the strict policies of the Atkins diet and these two diets are similar in that respect. This diet is also known as the paleo diet, in reference to the age when humans had not turned to agriculture to supply most of their calories.

There are many variations of no grain diets, some with their own names and their own proponents.
